Southern College is the first of its kind that is funded by
the Chinese Community and it aims at cultivating professionals
for the country as well as Chinese Community. The following
scholarships and grants are available for those who plan to
pursue their education here but are in financial need.
A. Full Scholarship
B. Half Scholarship
C. Grant (Allowance of RM2,500 per annum for two years)
Notes on the above three categories of bursary
-
Qualifications: available to UEC holders
with at least 5 B3s; SPM holders with at least 5 As(in
which a credit in Chinese is a must). Applicants who are
not eligible can also submit their application. The bursary
committee will act at his discretion.

Application period: one month prior to
the commencement of term.

D. Scholarship for students in the
Department of Malay Studies
The Malay Studies Department was originated from the Foon
Yew Advanced Studies Department. Since its first establishment
in 1976, the department has been highly regarded by the
Ministry of Education and DBP(Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka).With
the mission of training Malay Language teachers for independent
secondary schools, the college awards half scholarship for
independent secondary school graduates who are qualified
to be recruited and are interested to join the Malay Studies
Department.
The method of applying the scholarship is the same as in
(A)-(C) except that the application must include a recommendation
letter issued by the principal of the graduated secondary
school.
Terms and Conditions apply to the recepients of the
above bursaries
(a) Applicants will have to bear the miscellaneous fee.
(b) Applicants will have to bear the tuition fees exceeding
the actual number of credit hours.
(c) Applicants will have to stay in the student dormitory
of the college.
(d) Applicants will automatically become members of Si Yuan
Association and to assist the college in their available
time and whenever situations arise.
E. Nanyang Tertiary Education Fund
(Southern College)

The scholarship is administered by the
college but the recipients are elected by the above Bursary
Committee.

Applicable courses: Diploma in Chinese
Studies (2 candidate), Diploma in English (2 candidate),
and Diploma in Malay Studies (2 candidate).

Value: tuition fees of the whole course
based on a total of 95 credits.

Qualifications:
- UEC or SPM holders with excellent academic performance
- In good health and behaviour
- Application period: January to February (please
refer to the Nanyang Daily ).

Name: KOJADI study loan.

Background: The memorandum signed by both
KOJADI and Southern College on 22nd December 2000 agreed
that: graduates from Southern College who have obtained
admission into universities for further studies are entitled
for the above study loan.
